What is the Fall Fungi Challenge and how do I participate?
The Fall Fungi Challenge takes place during the whole month of September. Above is the prompt list - you'll have two days to paint each fungi!
You can follow the prompt list above whether or not you join this mini class.
And you can choose to paint each fungi, just one, or however many you'd like!
Can you tell me more about this mini class?
In this mini watercolor class, we'll paint 3 fungi together from this Fall Fungi Challenge: Amethyst Deceiver, Oyster, and Parrot Toadstool.
Each fungi lesson will be a livestream on YouTube where you can paint along with me, ask me questions in real time, and connect with others in the challenge through the chatbox!
You'll have forever access to the 3 fungi lessons, so if you can't make it to the livestreams, you can access the replays anytime.
You'll also receive outlines for the 3 fungi (no drawing necessary!), a list of supplies I'll use, and you'll be able to see every brushstroke I make from start to finish!
You'll finish this mini class with 3 beautiful, realistic watercolor fungi!
Plus you'll get this BONUS tutorial!
In-Depth Autumn Fox Tutorial
This Autumn Fox watercolor tutorial is extracted from my Woodland Animals class (coming soon!).
When you join this mini class, you'll get complete access to this fox tutorial, making this mini class worth even more than the $12 you pay!
You'll receive step-by-step video lessons on how I painted this fox, an outline, reference photos, and a list of supplies I used.
The fungi we'll paint together in this class:
Days 1 & 2: Amethyst Deceiver
Days 15 & 16: Oyster
Days 29 & 30: Parrot Toadstool
Each fungi comes with:
- A list of supplies and paints I will use
- An outline for you to transfer onto your watercolor paper (no drawing necessary!)
- A reference photo
- A step-by-step video tutorial (no footage is sped up or cut out!) that you'll have forever access to

I’m so glad that I took part in the #fallfungichallenge this year as it’s enabled me to actually get a new fungi poster done (with a couple old favourites added in).
Some artists who completed the challenge last year:
"This challenge was so nice, I loved painting all these mushrooms and I discovered a lot of new people 🥰" - @couleursdessens_art
"Its been a fun few weeks painting these mushrooms and I’ve met some wonderful and supportive artists - thank you so much! And a big thank you to @allisonlyonart for hosting x" - @kraftybones
"Thank you for following along this month! It was very rewarding and I loved learning about each species as I created each drawing...I also really enjoyed connecting to a number of artists through this challenge. I think that is a great perk of online drawing challenges: connecting to other artists and seeing the range of amazing work created." - @emilynettie

Hello there! I'm Allison & this is Leo, my assistant. We welcome you!
I believe that nature deserves our adoration and attention.
I believe that we need to admire our surroundings and reminisce the beauty that surrounds us.
I also believe that flowers and nature show us that there is good in this world ~ we just need to stop the hustle and appreciate the fascinating wonders of nature.
One of the ways I express my love of nature is with watercolor painting.
My goal is to help 10,000 nature-loving artists learn watercolor, so they too can ignite their love of nature with watercolors.
And I'd love for you to be one of the ten thousand.
